The Union Jal Shakti Ministry has launched the Catch the Rain campaign in Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh. The drive began on 4 July 2026 and will run till 4 August 2026. Its core idea is “catch the rain where it falls, when it falls”, using scientific planning and community participation.

Community elders and village residents were consulted, and the proposed works were presented before the gram sabha to ensure transparency.
The desilting work improves the conveyance capacity of channels, allowing rainwater to reach tanks and reservoirs quickly. Restored tanks increase surface storage, while check dams and percolation tanks enhance groundwater recharge. Together, these interventions aim to capture every possible drop of monsoon runoff.
