Key Points

  1. The Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act was passed in Parliament last week.
  2. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the VB-G RAM G Act addresses labor shortages during peak farm seasons on December 23, 2025.
  3. The VB-G RAM G Act replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
  4. Under the new scheme, laborers will get work for 125 days a year, an increase from 100 days under MGNREGA, excluding two months of peak farming season.
  5. The government aims to increase the income of both farmers and laborers through the new law.
