Dr. Virendra Kumar emphasized the importance of the joint family value system and the role of elders in building the family, community, and nation. He highlighted the Ministry's focus on three pillars: Empowerment, Sensitivity, and Participation. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant emphasized the moral values associated with respecting elders and the need for deeper collaboration between various authorities to protect senior citizens. Government Initiatives Under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana , more than 7 lakh senior citizens have benefitted from aids and assistive devices. Emotional support is provided through Elderline , a toll-free number 14567 . The government provides health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh to every senior citizen who is 70+ years old .
