Groundwater monitoring shows a worrying trend: the state’s average water table was 9.46 m below ground level (mbgl) in June 2026 and is projected to fall to 10.35 mbgl in July and 11.01 mbgl in August if rainfall deficits reach 30 %. Districts most at risk include Vikarabad, Medak, Sangareddy, Nizamabad, Siddipet and Kamareddy.
