Important Facts
The new headquarters will house the Director General’s office, control room, conference facilities, auditorium, library, gymnasium and other modern amenities. It will become the nerve centre for the Force’s administrative, operational and strategic functions.
During his address, Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar highlighted several welfare schemes for CAPFs personnel: Ayushman CAPF, CAPFIMS, the CAPF e‑Awas portal, and a compassionate disability policy that ensures career progression for personnel injured in the line of duty.
He also praised Project MANN for mental‑health assistance and the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar network for financial relief.
Director General CISF Shri Praveer Ranjan outlined the Force’s expanding role in emerging security domains. The Force is now a RSO under the ISPS Code, enabling it to audit major ports and support India’s Blue Economy.
It has also taken charge of security at high‑security correctional facilities in Jammu & Kashmir and is developing the Drone and Anti‑Drone Technology Centre of Excellence at RTC Behror. Specialized cyber‑security teams are being trained in partnership with IIT Madras, Pravartak, NFSU Gandhinagar and C‑DAC.
The Ministry has approved the creation of the first all‑women CISF Reserve Battalion at Nuh, Haryana, with 1,024 women personnel.
Exam Relevance
Understanding the organisational structure and welfare measures of CAPFs is essential for GS 2 (Polity) and GS 4 (Security). The expansion into cyber, drone and maritime security reflects the evolving threat matrix, a topic frequently asked in GS 2 and GS 3 (Economy/Technology). Welfare schemes like Ayushman CAPF, Project MANN and the all‑women battalion illustrate the government’s focus on personnel welfare and gender empowerment, relevant for ethics and governance questions.
Way Forward
Future steps may include: completing the headquarters by 2028, scaling up cyber‑security training, operationalising the drone‑countermeasure centre, and expanding the all‑women battalion model to other CAPFs. Aspirants should monitor policy updates on security reforms and welfare schemes, as they often form the basis of UPSC questions on internal security and governance.
