Overview On November 18, 2025 , Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh inaugurated the “Special Handloom & Handicraft Exhibition cum Sale” at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) , held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event aims to provide economic opportunities for artisans and promote India's rich textile heritage. Key Developments Inauguration: The event was inaugurated by Shri Giriraj Singh , Union Minister of Textiles, in the presence of Smt. Neelam Shami Rao , Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, and other senior officials. Theme: This year’s pavilion is themed “Vastra Kala: Bharat ki Virasat” , celebrating India’s craft legacy. Minister's Remarks: Shri Giriraj Singh highlighted the rising global demand for handcrafted products and the potential of the trade fair to transform artisans' livelihoods. He also mentioned the development of a new Hub-and-Export model. Regional Representation The pavilion is divided into four regions, each representing a unique aspect of India's textile heritage: North: Reflection & Ancestral Grace, featuring motifs of Ganesha, Ram Darbar, and Banarasi weave. South: Precision, Devotion & Sculptural Discipline, showcasing Karnataka and Tamil Nadu’s mastery in wood, silk, metal craft, and the cosmic rhythm of Natraj. East: Memory, Continuity & the Hand-woven Heartbeat, highlighting Odisha and Bengal traditions. West: Radiance, Celebration & Desert Brilliance, featuring mirror work, lippan art, and carved wood.
