Key Developments North East Economic Corridor The meeting of HLTF on the North East Economic Corridor was chaired by Shri Pu Lalduhoma , Chief Minister of Mizoram. Participants included Shri Preston Tynsong , Deputy Chief Minister, Meghalaya; Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary , Minister, Assam; and Shri Puneet Kumar Goel , Chief Secretary, Manipur. A comprehensive roadmap was presented, addressing challenges in economic infrastructure. Emphasis was placed on developing road and railway networks, air connectivity, inland waterways, energy infrastructure, digital connectivity, trade corridors, and border trade infrastructure. The Mizoram Government was tasked with submitting the final report after incorporating feedback. Tourism Development The HLTF meeting on Tourism was chaired by Shri Conrad Sangma , Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat , Union Minister for Tourism & Culture, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha , Chief Minister of Tripura, and Shri Prem Singh Tamang , Chief Minister of Sikkim, also participated. A preliminary report on recommendations for tourism development in the NER was presented. The Union Minister of DoNER suggested developing world-class tourist circuits and a bottom-up approach to devise an action plan. The Union Minister for Ministry of Culture and Tourism highlighted promotional activities and tourism infrastructure development. Agriculture and Horticulture The HLTF meeting on Agriculture and Horticulture was chaired by Shri Prem Singh Tamang , Chief Minister of Sikkim. Participants included Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha , Chief Minister of Tripura; Shri Atul Bora , Minister of Agriculture, Assam; and Shri Gabriel D. Wangsu , Minister of Agriculture, Arunachal Pradesh. The Task Force reviewed progress in the agriculture and horticulture sectors. Discussions centered on enhancing value addition, processing, and market linkages for key agri-horti products. Key strategies included developing integrated cold chain infrastructure, promoting organic farming, and branding region-specific products under a unified “Organic” label.
