Critical Analysis

PM Vishwakarma is an ambitious attempt to formalize the 'Guru-Shishya' (Master-Disciple) tradition of Indian craftsmanship. By providing a holistic package—skilling, toolkit incentive, and collateral-free credit—it addresses the entire value chain. The major challenge is the 'digital validation' of traditional skills and ensuring that the 5% interest rate is actually accessible without bureaucratic hurdles. The scheme's success depends on whether it can successfully link traditional products (like pottery or blacksmithing) to modern e-commerce global markets.
