Key Points

  1. ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AMNSIL) is setting up a greenfield Integrated Steel Plant (ISP) in Anakapalli district.
  2. Phase-I of the ISP will have a capacity of 8.2 MTPA, with 70% (5.8 MTPA) being hot rolled coils.
  3. The total capital cost for Phase-I is estimated at ₹67,345 crore.
  4. The ISP site spans 2,200 acres across five villages in Nakkapalli Mandal.
  5. The plant requires approximately 135 MLD of water, sourced mainly from the Polavaram Left Main Canal.
  6. The total power requirement is 867 MW, with 227 MW from captive generation and 640 MW from the grid.
  7. AMNSIL has allocated ₹3,540 crore for an environmental management plan, with an annual recurring cost of ₹355 crore.
  8. The ISP will use a blast furnace and a basic oxygen furnace (BoF).
