Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) ने 12 March 2026 को असम से United Kingdom और Italy को 25 metric tonnes GI‑टैग्ड Joha Rice की पहली निर्यात को सुविधाजनक बनाया। यह माइलस्टोन नॉर्थ ईस्टर्न रीजन से भौगोलिक संकेत (Geographical Indication) उत्पादों को बढ़ावा देने के प्रयास को रेखांकित करता है, जिससे किसानों की आय और भारत के निच‑एक्सपोर्ट पोर्टफोलियो में सुधार होगा।
Overview The APEDA has dispatched the inaugural consignment of 25 metric tonnes of GI ‑tagged Joha Rice from Assam to the United Kingdom and Italy. The shipment, flagged off by Shri Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture, Government of Assam , marks a strategic step in expanding the export footprint of the North Eastern Region (NER). Key Developments First export of 25 metric tonnes of GI‑tagged Joha Rice to the United Kingdom and Italy. Consignment flagged off on 12 March 2026 by the Assam Agriculture Minister in the presence of senior officials including the Agriculture Production Commissioner and the Director of Agriculture. Export executed by APEDA‑registered exporter M/s Safe Agritrade Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata and processed/packed at Pratik Agro Food Processing, Guwahati .
