• Participants will include senior government officials, industry leaders, venture capitalists and academic experts.
UPSC Relevance
The event illustrates the government's push for a robust innovation ecosystem, a recurring theme in GS‑3 (Science & Technology) and GS‑2 (Polity) papers. Understanding the role of bodies like DST, DBT and MoES helps answer questions on how India translates research into commercial products and jobs.
For GS‑3, candidates should note the emphasis on technology transfer, venture funding and the creation of deep‑tech start‑ups, which are critical for achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal.
Way Forward
• Strengthen linkages between research labs and industry through formal technology‑transfer agreements.
• Encourage policy incentives for start‑ups emerging from CSIR labs, such as tax breaks and seed funding.
• Build a national database of patents and innovations to aid venture capitalists in identifying high‑potential projects.
• Promote interdisciplinary research (e.g., AI in aerospace, data science in agriculture) to address emerging market needs.
Overall, the RISE Conclave aims to accelerate the commercialization of research, generate employment and move India closer to its 2047 development aspirations.
