Cyberabad Women & Children Safety Wing steps up efforts against trafficking and harassment
The Cyberabad Women & Children Safety Wing’s recent drive, involving 140 decoy operations, bookings, counselling and awareness programmes, highlights multi‑agency efforts to curb indecency, human trafficking and related social issues. Such initiatives provide factual data for prelims and policy analysis for mains on women’s safety, law enforcement and community outreach.
A total of 27 persons were booked for indecent acts in public places in 140 decoy operations by the SHE Teams of Cyberabad Women & Children Safety Wing during a weeklong drive between September 21 and 27. Petty cases were booked against them, followed by counselling. The teams also received 21 complaints from women victims through different platforms. In addition, 74 awareness programmes were organised across Cyberabad and four counselling sessions were held at the Women and Children Safety Wing. At the Family Counselling Centre, 23 families involved in domestic disputes were counselled, with efforts made to reconcile differences between spouses. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) registered two cases under the The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act in Narsingi and Allapur police stations, rescuing four victims and arresting three accused. In separate night raids, eleven transgenders were apprehended in Gachibowli and Narsingi. As part of the Suraksha Kavach programme, a College Safety Workshop was led by DCP K. Surjana in collaboration with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council’s Children and Youth Forum. The workshop focused on cyber safety, mental health, substance abuse, physical and road safety.
