The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, through NESTS, is organizing a workshop to enhance the quality of infrastructure for tribal education, aiming to improve EMRS construction and educational outcomes. Overview The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) , under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs , is organizing a two-day workshop on “Building Quality Infrastructure for Tribal Education” . This event will take place on November 21st and 22nd, 2025 , at Akashvani Bhawan, New Delhi . The workshop aims to strengthen and standardize the quality of infrastructure in tribal education. Key Objectives To enhance the quality of school infrastructure in remote tribal areas. To ensure faster progress in construction with best quality practices. To provide a capacity-building exercise for engineers involved in construction projects. Key Developments The workshop will be inaugurated by Ms. Ranjana Chopra , Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs . It will bring together more than 300 engineers from various PSUs, CPWD, State Governments , and construction agencies. Experts from IITs, NITs, CBRI , and other prestigious organizations will provide training on project planning, project execution, and best practices in construction. Focus Areas Project Planning: Training on effective planning strategies for construction projects. Project Execution: Best practices for executing projects efficiently and effectively. Quality Standards: Ensuring strict adherence to prescribed quality standards in EMRS construction projects. National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) NESTS is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs . It is responsible for implementing key initiatives aimed at improving tribal education. The government has set a target of establishing 728 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) across the country. Currently, 499 EMRSs are functional, and construction of the remaining schools is ongoing. Centres of Excellence for Sports (CoE for Sports) To further promote sports and athletic excellence among tribal students, the Ministry is also setting up 15 Centres of Excellence for Sports (CoE for Sports) within these EMRSs . Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) EMRS is a flagship scheme of the Government of India , aimed at transforming tribal education. The initiative seeks to provide quality, holistic, and fully residential education to tribal students, bridge educational gaps, enhance life and vocational skills, and instill cultural pride.
