The Ministry of Science & Technology has announced that the Technology Development Board (TDB) in partnership with the Department of Science & Technology (DST) has signed an agreement with NTF Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. to set up a manufacturing unit for the commercialisation of indigenous Type‑IV composite cylinders. The move aligns with the Government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision for clean mobility.

The indigenous cylinders feature a corrosion‑free polymer liner, optimised fibre lay‑up and mechanical locking systems that resist leakage, vibration and pressure cycling. By offering a lighter yet stronger alternative, they can significantly cut carbon emissions from the growing CNG vehicle fleet. The commercialisation effort will create a domestic supply chain for advanced mobility components, reducing dependence on imports.
