Key Points

  1. Cabinet approves two multitracking railway projects.
  2. Projects cover Maharashtra and Gujarat.
  3. Total project cost is Rs 2,781 crore.
  4. The projects will increase the railway network by about 224 Kms.
  5. Projects include Devbhumi Dwarka (Okha) – Kanalus Doubling (141 kms) and Badlapur – Karjat 3rd and 4th line (32 kms).
  6. The projects aim to enhance multi-modal connectivity and logistic efficiency.
  7. Connectivity to approximately 585 villages with a population of about 32 lakhs will be enhanced.
  8. The capacity augmentation works will result in additional freight traffic of magnitude 18 MTPA.
