Key Points
- Government is distributing essential commodities free of cost in cyclone Montha-affected areas.
- Distribution includes rice, sugar, and other essential goods through 14,415 Fair Price Shops (FPS).
- One lakh metric tonnes (MT) of rice, 3,424 MT of sugar are being distributed.
- G.O. Rt. No.115 permits distribution of 25 kg of rice, 1 kg each of toor dal, onions, potatoes, and sugar, and 1 litre of palm oil to families in relief camps.
- Fishermen and handloom weaver families will receive 50 kg of rice each.
- Distribution is in addition to benefits under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms.
- Ministers Vangalapudi Anitha and Anagani Satya Prasad are coordinating relief operations.
