- The ISIS Investigation Research Cell (IIRC) in NIA has been renamed as Counter Terrorism Research Cell (CTRC).
- The renaming and broadening of scope occurred by December 2, 2025.
- Exclusive divisions like Anti Human Trafficking Division (AHTD) and Anti Cyber Terrorism Division (ACTD) have been created in NIA.
- A specialised unit called National Terror Data Fusion and Analysis Centre (NTDFAC) has been established in NIA.
- NIA has a total of 1,901 sanctioned posts.
- The mandate of NIA has been expanded to investigate offences related to Explosive Substances Act, Human Trafficking, Cyber Terrorism and Arms Act.
- NIA has established 21 branch offices pan India, with 02 Zonal Offices (Guwahati and Jammu) and Headquarter at Delhi.
