AICC to decide Jubilee Hills candidate but winning onus on us: Revanth — UPSC Current Affairs | September 14, 2025
AICC to decide Jubilee Hills candidate but winning onus on us: Revanth
The article outlines the Congress party's strategic focus on the Jubilee Hills by‑election, highlighting the interplay between state leadership and the AICC in candidate selection and campaign planning. Understanding these dynamics aids UPSC aspirants in addressing questions on electoral politics, party organization, and governance communication.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said that winning the Jubilee Hills by-election is the party’s top priority while clarifying that the final decision on candidate selection will rest with the AICC. He urged every leader to take responsibility for strengthening the Congress campaign at the grassroots. “We must ensure that welfare schemes and development works of the government are effectively publicised at the field level. Booth-wise campaign plans should be prepared, and people must be assured that the government is committed to solving their problems,” he said. He was speaking at a key meeting with division in-charges of the Jubilee Hills constituency on Sunday to chalk out the Congress party’s strategy for the upcoming by-election. The meeting was attended by PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, CM’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Vivek Venkataswamy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, AICC Secretary Vishwanathan, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, GHMC Mayor Vijayalakshmi, and several corporation chairmen serving as division in-charges. The Chief Minister reminded the leaders that the burden of securing victory lies on their shoulders, adding that he would continuously review their performance and monitor local conditions. He called for unity and urged all leaders and in-charges to work in coordination.
