1. 4 Aug 2026 – India के External Affairs Ministry ने Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman (BIMSTEC chair) को BRICS आउटरीच सत्र के लिए आमंत्रित किया।
2. 18th BRICS summit New Delhi में 12‑13 Sept 2026 को आयोजित होगा।
3. BRICS के पास अब 12 सदस्य हैं, जिसमें Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, UAE (2024) और Indonesia (2025) को जोड़ा गया; यह विश्व जनसंख्या का 49.5%, वैश्विक GDP का 40% और व्यापार का 26% कवर करता है।
4. BIMSTEC के सात सदस्य India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal और Bhutan हैं।

Background

By inviting the BIMSTEC chair, India links a South‑Asian regional grouping with a global coalition, reinforcing its neighbourhood policy and its aim to shape multilateral agendas on security and economics.
